Books as wallpaper

Just a quick one to say I'm still alive!! In recovery from the Easter prep at work, and still finding it hard to switch off... The Singer sent me this great pic on Facebook this week - a reminder that there is an ongoing conversation that is generated by my blog, however far apart the actual points of contact might get. There's a meme I see from time to time on Facebook about real friends not getting fussed about how far the gaps are between visits - I'm mangling the actual quote, because I always do, and because it's a while since I've seen it, but it struck me that my blog is something like that. It's not going to back up and bite me if I'm not posting every day, or even every week...

Meanwhile, there is a massive stack of books in that other TBR pile now - and they're an interestingly eclectic mix, even for me. Before I get to them, however, I have a children's vintage book review to write as I'm participating (however minimally) in Arabella's challenge over at The Genteel Arsenal - which you can read about HERE - and there's a badge that should be visible on my blog but I've never got my head around adding those things...sadly un-techie, I am. So, enjoy The Singer's pic, and watch this space for that vintage children's book...

  1. I find too many blogs posts hard to keep up with anyway. It's lovely to go to the blog homepage (or Facebook) and see one waiting from someone who hasn't posted for awhile. It's almost always worth the wait, including this one. I love the picture and the quote.

    1. Hi Rachel,

Thank you! Always good to see you here. It's a curious thing the way the blogs start to take on a life of their own - I will slowly work through my backlog of books to post about...there are some wonderful stories I've been finding recently.

  2. Love the pic and even though I feel guilty for buying more books than I can possibly read I love to see them sitting on the shelf both the read and the unread, being in our library (glorious exaggeration for what is the room that holds the bulk of the family book accumulation), I get a sense of calm and peace, books do that for me.
I know what it is like to be busy, so don't feel pressured into posting for the challenge but thank you for participating and I look forward to reading your posts as always.

    1. I try, but can't feel truly guilty about buying books, Arabella. Other things, yes; books, no!

My books - the ones that make it onto the bookshelves as keepers - they're treasures. They're read and re-read, within a year, and some of them I know so well that occasionally I even ask myself why I'm reading them again, not that it stops me...

I've posted for the challenge - at the eleventh hour...deadlines, as always, adding that necessary spurt of adrenaline. Hopefully, one way or another you'll have found the link.

    1. I liked it - much more positive than the usual 'nerd' appellations!

      Same to you, Peter!
