The young priest too - I didn't have room to go into lots of detail and I didn't want too many spoilers... The obvious aspect you'd expect of the book is Agnes' personal journey to redemption. But I think Kent manages to deliver an entirely realistic set of MULTIPLE journeys - because everyone in the household, and young Toti, have some distance to travel from the point when they first discover What their part will be in the end stages of Agnes' life.
It is a fascinating study of human nature in an extreme situation and I think this is a young writer with immense promise - it will be u treating to see what she does next. For myself, I'm in no hurry for a movie version. There ate some books that should pissibly left as THE means of telling a story and I think this is one of them - unless, possibly, made by one of the smaller Scandinavian companies ... Think The original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movie... That really did get inside people's heads - and was an extremely well executed book to movie transition - I've not seen the remake. Couldn't bring myself to, because I didn't think the original could be bettered. I've been told otherwise, but I'm not having it!!Kazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06883203750700550391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8223421075357845155.post-78343928355156578332013-08-09T07:59:02.725-07:002013-08-09T07:59:02.725-07:00You already had me interested in this book, as you...You already had me interested in this book, as you know, and your review simply intensifies the effect. There is an instant appeal to the narrative in the fact that we all, even the popular kids, feel ourselves the outcast more often than not. Another point of interest is the psychology of getting into the head of a person who knows with absolute certainty that on this date she will die. Not that she's going to do something that will probably kill her, not that she has a disease that will kill her in "about a year." No, "a week from next Thursday, we're cutting off your head." No stays, no appeals, just "present yourself at the place of execution, and don't be late." Incredible...

You mentioned in your e-mails a possible movie treatment. I don't think I would want to see that, as I can't see a movie about this being anything but a big downer, but it's definitely going on my TBR list, IF my employer ever decides to return me to full-time status...

Great job, my friend, you sold me!Jack Tylerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14030471723776022615noreply@blogger.com
