The friend who posted this pic on Facebook is an avid Firth fan and I'll have to pass it on. I suspect my partner sort of gets what women see in Firth, but our 16 year old certainly doesn't !!Kazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06883203750700550391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8223421075357845155.post-18448044716670267392012-07-02T23:40:32.038-07:002012-07-02T23:40:32.038-07:00You made me smile! Firth has a capacity for allowing a certain vulnerability to peep through an otherwise seemingly arrogant or unlikeable character, and that fits the bill in Darcy's case. It humanises these characters. Then of course, there was the more recent movie version, so it offered fresh fodder for devotees to debate - and so it goes on...Kazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06883203750700550391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8223421075357845155.post-46168905474587952562012-07-01T17:16:33.975-07:002012-07-01T17:16:33.975-07:00Ummmm, I just don't get it and yes, I haven...Ummmm, I just don't get it and yes, I haven't read Austen.

Although I have heard women and certain men swoon over Mister Darcy's name.Nealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01277975046232457665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8223421075357845155.post-76969401540160589212012-06-30T17:27:20.566-07:002012-06-30T17:27:20.566-07:00LOL, Murph! you can always be counted upon to brin...LOL, Murph! you can always be counted upon to bring a certain earthy level to the conversation!

You need to re-read your Austens - assuming you've read them at all... I'm giving you a generous portion of benefit of the doubt. It's very easy to dismiss Darcy as an uptight and arrogant snob. However, there is another side to him. I'll have to get back to my Austens and explore that.
